Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Krasowice

Add to the planner

The church in Krasowice was completed in 1620 as a Protestant church. Built on a cross plan, it has a frame structure with brick filling; the walls are plastered and painted white. The church underwent renovations in 1852 and 1911. In the transept on the upper floor there is a gallery with an ornamental balustrade. Above the sacristy and the outbuildings, there are lodges accessible via exterior stairs. The central element of the church is the 18th-century altar with a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa as the centrepiece. The wooden pulpit, the pens, and the pipe organ also originate from the 18th century.

The church holds a priceless relic – a bone with two burned-in inscriptions: “Queen Almighty, protect us from harm, wrap the world with your cloak” and “Saint Anthony, protect us from harm”.

The square steeple holds a bell from 1657 with an inscription in German saying “Sebastian Gotz goss mich”, which can be translated into “Sebastian Gotz founded me”.
